Location & Directions

Paraa Safari lodge is located in Murchison falls National park North Western Uganda overlooking the Victoria Nile.

By air:
One hour from Entebbe Airport to Pakuba or Bugungu airstrip within the national park, both 45 minutes drive to the lodge.

By Road:
Paraa Safari lodge is approximately 5hrs drive from Kampala (300km)or 6hrs from Entebbe (340km). The first stage of the journey follows a tarmac highway from 170km before turning left onto a 45km road to masindi town. A smaller Murram road (85km) leads from Masindi to Paraa; a 4 wheel vehicle is recommended for this sectionm during the rainy season.

From Kampala follow a Gulu road north out of town through Bwaise along the Bombo Road. After 71km the road passes through Bombo, and after 120km passes Ziwa Rhino Santuary, a recommended stop where rhino sighting is guaranteed.

The Route to Paraa safari Lodge tuns off the Gulu road to Masindi just beyond Kafu Bridge.This is a busy Junction where local vendors sell snacks and drinks. However Masindi 45km further is perhaps a more relaxing location to stop and freshen up.

The last 85km of the journey begins at sign posted junction beside the Masindi Hotel and the Shell Fuel Station, almost 2km beyong the town center. The murram road enters the Murchison Falls Conservation Area to Kichumbanyabo gate after 24km and reaces the Nile at south Paraa where a UWA vehicle ferry crosses Nile to reach the Safari lodges on northern bank. the ferry operates at scheduled intervals throughout the day between 7am and 7pm. A fee is charged for it’s use.

Please note that entrance into the Park (an hour’s drive to the south) is not permitted after 6pm.

Alternative Route to Paraa Safari Lodge via Karuma from Kafu Bridge turn left from the Gulu road to join Pakwach Arua road. Tangi Gate lies left just off the Arua raod, 112km from Karuma Bridge and just before the Pakwach Bridge. It is approximately 2km from tangi to Paraa Safari lodge.
